Join us for February's First Friday Art Walk

Happy New Year and Happy February!

Where has the time gone? It seems we were just putting up the Holiday lights and now we are already preparing feverishly for Valentine’s Day (Sunday, February 14th, by the way!).

December was a wonderful month for the Gallery! Artist Blue Butterfield rocked the house with her charming woodcut prints of everything and everywhere Portland and had tremendous sales of her calendars, boxed cards and original works.

During January, the Gallery was closed to the public for a little refresh and for hosting three private parties which were wonderfully fun! (If interested in having your party with the Gallery atmosphere, contact Harmon’s & Barton’s at 774 5946).

Now, we are back on our First Friday schedule! 2010 is an exciting year for the Gallery! We will be featuring eight new artists creating with interesting, tactile mediums and welcoming back three friends of the Gallery all with fresh, new work for their shows! I am so proud of all the hard work our artists muster to create a show that is unique, compelling, and fun for all our clients and visitors!

Kicking off the season is Maine artist, Debra Bickford. Deb is an art teacher at Westbrook High School and although she spends a great deal of her time inspiring the young minds pursuing a life of art, she takes the time to follow her own artistic passions and create amazing works with batiks, acrylics and mixed mediums. We welcome Deb to the Gallery and I encourage all of you to meet and greet with Deb and our floral designers on Friday, February 5th from 5 – 8 pm. If you are not able to make it to the Artist’s Social, Deb will be showing through the month and the Gallery is open Mon thru Fri 8 – 5:30 and Sat 8 – 3.

We look forward to seeing all of you on Friday night! The weather promises to be a balmy 30 degrees, so bundle up, enjoy hearty restaurant fare and put us on your “to do” for the evening!
