About John Hatcher, A House "SOLD" Name

I am a native of Falmouth, Maine, attended Falmouth schools and was awarded a certificate for Perfect Attendance for all 13 years! I went to the University of Southern Maine for Business Administration and while attending there took the pre-licensing courses that allowed me to apply those credits to obtain my Broker’s license.

I now live on the West End of Portland, with Dan Kennedy, my partner of 15 years, in an 1876 Italianate Victorian, which was recently featured on HGTV’s “What You Get For The Money”. We also have a summer home in Ogunquit.

After college I was in a family retail business, then opened The Foundry Restaurant and Nightclub in Portland. I enjoyed renovating and putting the business together but did not enjoy the day-to-day operations and sold the business after three years.

After renovating a brick Sea Captain’s home while in college and after various other property renovations, I realized that I enjoyed real estate enough to activate my license and try to make a living at it! I started at Century 21 Balfour in 1986 and was rookie of the year. The company was purchased by Coldwell Banker Harnden Beecher in 2000, and then subsequently purchased by Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage in 2002. After meeting with Dottie, Linda, Leanne and Cathy and attending the Keller Williams Family Reunion in 2003, I caught the Keller Williams Fever and my group joined in March of 2003.

Being community minded, I have given much of my time to local and non-profit organizations by serving on their boards and committees. As a former national competitive figure skater, I am still involved at local ice arenas, offering my coaching skills for both competitive skaters and learn-to-skate programs. I have also served on the board of both the Portland Board of Realtors and the Maine Association of Realtors, and feel it is important to give back to the organizations that support our industry.
