We always talk about how much fun it is to entertain new artists each month - the new people, the new art - is so exhilarating! When we get to welcome back an artist we've featured before, it generates that 'warm and fuzzy' feeling - like welcoming a family member home - seeing how they've grown and expanded their work during the time they've been away. This month, we get to do both!! Portland artist, Francine Schrock, celebrates her fourth show with us during the month of July! Francine's gift of oil and brush on canvas expands from the painstaking detail of her realist work capturing not only the perfection of the landscape or cityscape, but also its mood, its spirit, its essence - to the broad spectrum of her intense abstracts in Colorfield (www.francineschrock.com). The pieces Francine brings to The Gallery this month immortalize Portland's architecture, its working waterfront beauty, and its liveliness and sereneness all in one. These are works that will live forever to portray the energy that is Portland today! Sharing the space with Francine is Patrick Plourde - new to The Gallery, but not to the art world. Pat has created amazing sculpture, studio furniture, and custom and commercial fixtures in his New Gloucester studio for over 25 years (www.patplourde.com) His works have appeared in national magazines, well-known retailers, and are collected internationally by galleries, corporations and individuals of note. Pat's works at The Gallery feature natural forms and Portland landmarks expressed with the use of vintage steel and recycled vintage elements, as well as two stunning pieces that he and Francine collaborated on!
